ABOUT
BAYARD BALDWIN
MISSION & HISTORY.
The Bayard Baldwin Institute is committed to empowering Black queer men through political education, professional leadership development, and power building. Our mission is to address the unique challenges faced by Black queer men in their respective industries, drawing from the lived experience, teachings, and values of trailblazers like Bayard Rustin and James Baldwin.
We focus on specific areas where Black queer men are too often overlooked, underrepresented or face unique challenges, while maintaining solidarity with the broader Black LGBTQ+ community. Our programs and initiatives are tailored to the needs of our members, offering political education, professional leadership development, networking opportunities, mentorship, and power building that serve to full realize the principles of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Bayard Baldwin Institute is a project of Native Son.
